On Vinyl and The New RR Record!

Yes, it's true! The very first vinyl ever of Rafferty Rules is already in my hands!

This is a unique copy of the "Dispossessed" EP, on 10'', pressed on black vinyl, with a full colored sleeve! A true beauty indeed!!! I will make sure to post some pictures here soon!

Thoughts on an upcoming RR vinyl are still only thoughts but it is always possible that a super Limited - probably transparent - Edition of hand-numbered copies will occur some time in the future.

Of course, there is always the chance that thoughts might remain only thoughts, but you never know...

We are extremely happy to officially announce that after almost 6 years of absence, Rafferty Rules will be performing their very first live appearance!

The band has been confirmed to play live on the European Music Day Festival in Volos, on Friday 17 June 2011.

The official scheduled hour is yet to be confirmed and officially announced. At this stage, all we can promise you is nothing less than some good old times and some more brand new surprises! Stay tuned!

Rafferty Rules will be entering BPM Studios in their hometown Volos during the Greek Easter Holiday of 2011 to initiate the Recording Sessions for the full length follow-up of their 2001 "Name Your God".

Several songs are already in place, Riffs, Lyrics and Rhythms keep piling up and there's a Constant Goddamn Killer Smile on our faces as we cannot wait to look right back into your eyes and perform these songs live...

Yet, first things first... we will keep you posted with Updates from the Studio!

There are also several ideas on the table regarding the format(s) of our Upcoming Release, however, we 'll get there when we get there...

For the last two months, father of three Pirthy Sandhu has been sleeping rough on the Havelock Estate in Southall, and at 10pm every night, he climbs through a hole in a wall below a sign that says "please put your rubbish into the chute" and slips down the chute into a giant wheelie bin full of garbage.

He hauls himself out, rummages for his sleeping-bag hidden in the corner, spreads it out on the dank, concrete floor between the bins and, despite the overpowering stench, tries to grab a few hours sleep...

While Rafferty Rules is working on new songs, Dim Politis has made a guest appearance on Anthimos Manti's New Album "Time to Turn" released on GUITAR NINE RECORDS. Dim appears on the song "Fuzz Split" among another 28 guitarists in what appears to be an officially-released, party-like jam session...

For the moment, all we can say is that we are currently working on several new songs and that's as good as it gets for now. A new full release with brand new songs still remains a slightly distant endeavor, yet the plan is to accomplish this hopefully within the year of 2011.

To avoid any misunderstandings and due to phone calls and questions that we have received, we feel that it is our duty to announce officially that the Reunion Show of this year's GOLDEN R. FESTIVAL in September 2010 does NOT refer to our band.

We would have been more than happy to participate in such a great live event for Volos but unfortunately it still remains unclear when and where Rafferty Rules will be able to carry out its first show after almost 4 years of absence.

We wish to thank you once more for your continuous interest and support for our music throughout the years and we promise you that if and when a Rafferty Rules show becomes a reality, we will make sure to announce this clearly through our Official channels.

The title above comes from our "State of Aggression" song, featured as the last track in our Dispossessed 2003 EP. By coincidence, it describes perfectly the events in the Gaza Strip today and what it means to Fight for Humanity, Human Values and most importantly Human Dignity and Life...

At this very point, We will Shut the Fuck Up and let Mr. Pablo Neruda do the talking... All You have to do is think of Gaza and any other tormented country on this planet, wherever Mr Neruda speaks of Spain...

Rafferty Rules - On Downloads and Greek Bands

Spreading the Music is one way of seeing Downloading but what happens to the Musician? And I am not talking about Arena Rock Bands that fill stadiums and Musicians that drink themselves to death inside luxury yachts somewhere in the Caribbean, trying to invent new ways of spending their vast fortunes. And I am not judging them either. After all, deep down inside we all wanna be Rock Stars....

This post has nothing to do with us and our music. We just know what it feels like to put your heart into your music, to get your CD in your hands after endless hours of practicing and sacrifices. For a moment there you live the dream, you believe that anything is possible. You think "Hey, we have a great record here, best one ever made, we keep it cheap, we sell it on concerts, everyone's gonna buy, we put the money to the next CD, better production, mastering perhaps, what d'u know, maybe we CAN make it after all..." and those thoughts make you smile.

And then you find your CD online available for download next to the new MegaSuperGroup Digipack Ltd Edition (2 Bonus Tracks - Japan Only) and everyone comes to your concert 'cuz you Rock and "hey, you guys are so cool, I 've downloaded all your music, burnt CDs for my friends too, we are huge fans of yours guys, When are we gonna see you live again?" and all you wanna say is "When do you think?"

Help the bands guys, ask for their contacts or find them and if you like what you hear, just buy it.

It was never about the Money, not in the underground at least. It has always been about Support and Respect, Keeping the Underground Alive, helping the bands to endure, to make better records...

We the people alone have the power to support the underground bands because no one else will.

Anyways, downloading music is a huge subject and discussing was not meant to be the reason for this post. We just found our music online available for download and we thought that if you are gonna download it, you 'd better get it from us. Listen without Prejudice:

RAFFERTY RULES - YEAR 2010

Much sooner than the Olympic Games and the Football World Cup every 4 years, we have just updated this blog in 2 years time from the previous message. Funny how the time flies...

Anyway, this is by no means consistent from us towards the people who wish to know the news of this band and for that we owe you an apology. Rafferty Rules is not dead...

The band remains inactive for various reasons but as we last wrote in our Official Website, "it is not dead, what can eternally lie, yet with strange aeons, even death may die..." and this is entirely true. This band has been a major part of our soul, our friendships have grown stronger through it and they continue to grow every day that goes by, our youth is trapped in those tunes that we wrote, in the music we played, in the songs that you and us we both sang...

Rafferty Rules is not dead. Make no mistake about it. Anyone who has ever been in a band, anyone who "shared the ambition", anyone who has ever had "a vision left incomplete and undone" will read through these lines and understand that the passion still stands tall in our hearts... Yet a scary muddy path ours has been but hey, we are not complaining, we had a great time with all you guys out there and besides, "there never really was a plan from the start..."

...and you 'll say "where is the band without the music?"

And you 're right. Rafferty Rules had 3 brand new songs in line and a few more ready to come to life for a new full CD that we were planning to put out. It didn't happen. We hope in the future to manage to change that, to settle down, set our jobs and our lives aside for a while and go back to who we were, who we 've always wanted to be...

There is no promise in the above and no wishful thinking either. Only a hidden desire, the lust for the music and the people's eyes and the noise... That's all. And that's everything...

The keyboard is a sad way of making communication with you guys.

The mic is not.

The guitar, the bass and the drums are not.

Regardless what the future will bring, let us hope that even for a split second of time in the future, we will somehow manage to change that.

RAFFERTY RULES - STUDIO REPORT 2008

In an effort to restore our communication with all those people that stood by us all these years, we have decided to open this New Window to all of you who wish to know what the band has been up to, and what is currently doing.

We are very happy to announce that Rafferty Rules is back in the studio for good. For the past month, we have been composing, arranging, deleting as much Music as possible. Two songs are already in place and as we are currently working on many new ideas, we ourselves are quite curious to see how the upcoming Rafferty Rules release will sound.

Hopefully, we are looking forward to uploading a few samples just before its release, so that we all get an idea of what we are talking about here.

Feel free to share with us your thoughts / opinions.
